HUGE FURNISHED DOUBLE ROOM. £490 all inclusive. Hi. I have a beautiful Victorian end of terrace house on the brilliantly located and unusually friendly Albany Road in Montpelier. I share the house with two wonderful people but one has decided to move in with her partner, so we need to find another wonderful person. The room is extremely well-proportioned, high ceilinged, massive sash-windowed and fully furnished, on the first floor, with a lovely little fireplace and a built-in butler’s pantry. It's a maisonette, rather than a house (no garden, I’m afraid), with a nice chap living in the flat downstairs. On the ground floor there’s an enormous kitchen. Very much the place for eating socially, and shooting the breeze, which I greatly value and enjoy. A cooker fit for a chef. The living room, too, is spacious, with a bay window looking on to the street and an open fire. Albany Road is located on the edge of Montpelier, St Pauls and St Werburghs, a brisk walk to the bakery and Stokes Croft, a hop, skip and a jump to the delightfully over-priced Better Food Company (should you ever need organic cumin in an emergency), spitting distance from the M32 and staggering distance from The Star and Garter. It is a narrow cul-de-sac, which every man and his dog seems to walk through, with a school at the end. Parking is (currently) free and barely possible. I’m a busily-working actor, musician and director, aged 36. I’m open-minded, reputedly relatively easy to live with and like being around people with whom I can hold a decent conversation. I’m often away and, when I’m home, often spend a lot of time working from home. I rarely do 9-5, and enjoy living with others who have similarly erratic working patterns (I’m thinking freelancers rather than night shift workers) as it’s nice to hear a bit of life from time to time as you’re beavering away on admin all day. I enjoy society, but equally I’m highly independent and like getting on with my own stuff, so sometimes bury myself away. This probably isn’t the house for you if you don’t like (1.) lots of visitors (popping in for tea or coming to stay on the living room couch for a while), (2.) music (I play accordion. I’m not bad. But I do have to practice from time to time.) or (3.) the idea of me sub-letting my room to someone else while I’m on tour - this is a house that people will pass through to some extent (4.) engaging with your housemates and looking out for them a bit. It might be the house for you if (1.) you would like to make your home somewhere (you would be welcome to decorate your room if you wanted to) (2.) you live, not necessarily professionally, in the world of arts, music, theatre etc. (3.) are sociable, independent and bright. I’m keen to make the house a home for everyone so, although you’ll sometimes have a live-in landlord, I’m not interested in running a boarding house; I’m keen to live with people who get on with life, with each other and look out for each other a bit and know how to compromise and negotiate on the off chance we need to. I moved in a couple of years ago and I'm gradually making the place more homely (I don’t think I’m the DIY all weekend type, though, in case you’re alarmed by that prospect…). Come and have a look if you’re interested and see if it tickles your fancy. We'll have a cup of tea and see whether we speak the same cohabitative language... Price is inclusive of all bills and council tax. I don’t have a landline or a TV (I use mobiles and internets). We have a cleaner for a couple of hours every fortnight, also included in the price. If you are interested, please call me on 8 rather than emailing me. All the best Rew
